Fundraising for tech companies in Silicon Valley amounted to $140bn between January 2012 and May 2018 with over 12,000 deals among 7,000 unique companies, as stated in a report by CB Insights. That is more deals than all non-U.S. metro hubs combined. However, investment has been growing outside of California in the last two years. The highest growth in funding to start-ups among U.S. cities was recorded in New York, Toronto, and Boston. Deals are also growing in Toronto, Denver, and Seattle. If the trend persists, it is likely that these cities will attract more tech candidates and more money in the near future.
